Profile

The “Association for the promotion of FOSS4G  and the development of gvSIG", gvSIG Association, aims  the sustainability  of gvSIG project and the development of FOSS4G solutions.

Around democratic values and values of solidarity of the open source software the gvSIG Association promotes  the development of a new business model based on cooperation and shared knowledge. Part of the benefits from these bussines activities will back into the gvSIG project.

Principles 

The gvSIG project was born with fundamental principles that the Association gvSIG maintains and reinforces:

• Organized around democratic values: gvSIG Association promotes values of equality, rejecting any practices that may discriminate against some of its members for any condition, partner turnover, geographical location, etc..
• Collaboration and solidarity: As the gvSIG project has been successful thanks to an interpretation of open source software based on these values,the  gvSIG Association will also adopt  the same philosophy.
• Shared knowledge as a model: gvSIG and generally the world of free knowledge have shown that knowledge sharing is a better and fairer way of development. In the gvSIG Association opinion, the speculation knowledge has no sense. Its members cooperate by bringing different perspectives, experience and technological expertise in different areas to offer services of the highest quality. 
• No monopoly practices: The gvSIG Association have no place for submission or monopoly practices. For this reason is  focused on SMEs, imposing economic conditions to the actual situation of each. 

Objectives 

The objectives of the  gvSIG Association are: 

• Helping to build a  competitive industrial fabric, where  technological independence  for  its members, developing projects  and clients is one of the main objective.
• Finding a common area for universities, administrations and companies, with the aim of generating synergies to promote the benefit of all them. 
• Build a development model for gvSIG based on the generation of wealth and self-sustaining.
