Free software powered SDI
Description
Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) are examples of the use of Internet-based GIS.
SDI aim the integration, through Internet and using standards, of data, metadata, services and geographical information. Some of the products which are part of an SDI project include products such as geoportals, map servers, spatial databases, catalog servers and gazetteer servers.
The technological proposal of the gvSIG Association is based on the use of free technologies and standards.
Among other products, an SDI may consist of:
-
Geoportal: OpenLayers, MapFish and MapBender.
-
Map server: MapServer and Geoserver.
-
Spatial database: PostgreSQL+PostGIS, MySQL.
-
Catalog server: Geonetwork.
-
Gazetteer Server: Deegree.
- Advanced SDI Client: gvSIG Desktop, gvSIG Mobile.
