Geopaparazzi and gvSIG Mobile: state of the art

Geopaparazzi is an application for field surveys and digital field mapping for Android devices. Its simplicity and the possibility to use on as good as any Android device makes it a trusty field companion for engineers and geologists, but also for tourists who wish to keep a geodiary and any user that needs to be aware of his position even in offline mode.
In Geopaparazzi it is possible to take notes with text, pictures and sketches and place them on the map. Notes can also be complex and form based in order to standardize surveys in which many people need to be coordinated.
In the past years Geopaparazzi has started to feel like a good option to be the new gvSIG Mobile, given its interaction with gvSIG Desktop and gvSIG Online.
The plugin for Geopaparazzi in gvSIG supplies an userfriendly GUI with GIS functionalities to:
- prepare the base raster data for the map view in Geopaparazzi
- prepare the overlay vector layers as Spatialite DB with the support of the styling (original SLD)
- export as shapefiles of all the data collected in the field (GPS tracks, text notes, pictures and form based notes).
A very useful and fast tool to prepare the data for the field survey and import the collected information directly within a GIS using original GIS formats.
It is the faster way to check and share the information to be used for background analysis.
